Classroom Reveal…. Part 1

inally! I am able to share with you my classroom reveal. At this time, I have decided not to share the reasons why I have been MIA but perhaps in the future I will.

Let’s start with my anchor chart wall… I love this area! I uses command hooks and tension rods as a way to hold up my charts. I used bordette to create the frames. When I am done creating a charting I punch 2 holes in the top and use binder rings to hang them here. It makes it so easy to show what we are currently learning and then I can always flip back to a previous chart to review. Added bonus: I turn them backwards during tests so no need to ever cover anything!

Here is a close up of each of the 3 headings:

This is the sign that I won a year or so ago. I was planning on using it for a writing center but there is no room in my class and no supplies for one. Doesn’t this look so cute here? Plus I love how it breaks things up. Our district is focusing on improving writing this year so it makes an impact when admin walks in. Double bonus!

Next up… My whiteboard! I love this! Jessica from Dandelions and Dragonflies was so sweet and did all the vinyl lettering for me. I set it up how I wanted it and later found out I needed something different but it works for this year… I will improve it next year. =)

The little lined board is where I write out the various groups for each week. We switch classes for math interventions and they change weekly. I also list topics that students may need help with and they can sign up on here or I even add information on special try-outs (soccer and student council so far) so that it reminds me to remind those students to attend.

The close ups of each side:

I love how the “Be You” Bulletin board came out and beneath that is my centers. M.A.T.H. and R.E.A.D. The fifth group is always small group time with me. You can also see my markers bucket for anchor charts, naming sticks, our first read aloud, the binder for my lesson plans, and one of my Kagan Structures 4 Corners signs.

The next board is our welcome board. I have since added library pockets decorated by each student and laminated. These they use for delivering affirmations to one another a-la Capturing Kids Hearts. I also post the lunch menu and the monthly newsletter here.  This is also the only window in my room.

These are the bookcases and caddies in my room. The cups monitor noise level in groups. I am still waiting for textbooks which we will not get until the first week of school.

It looks like I did not take enough pictures. I will take some more next week of our room and explain why it has changed from the original floor plan. Plus I am missing some of our amazing bulletin boards.
